Update: Potty Training and Teeth

Potty Training Sofie Day 2 went really well. She only had 1 accident and again it happened when I was distracted. She stayed dry during her nap and at night, although I did wake her up at 430 am to tinkle. It kind of worked out perfectly because Lucy was up anyway. She sprouted 3 teeth last week and has been waking up in pain for about 8 weeks now. It's been quite the party at our house from 430 to 530 am lately. Jarem and I have gotten pretty efficient at it though: motrin, milk refill, and fresh diaper. We make a good team. It's a good thing we are head over heels in love with these little ladies. :)

Day One and Belly Shots

This is our/my first legitimate attempt at potty training Sofie Mae. A friend of mine is doing it this week too, so I am drawing from her bravery to get me through this. :) It hasn't been as awful as I expected. I got a bunch of prizes and treats for her and let her pick out undies. She chose little mermaid of course and I have been putting her on the thrown every 30 minutes. She gets a small prize for every attempt and a more coveted prize for each success. So far she has been extremely motivated by the prizes and she only had 2 small accidents, while I was distracted on the phone. She stayed dry during her nap and loves to announce that she has kept her unmentionables dry to anyone who will listen. Let's hope that day two goes just as well. Wish us luck!
Admiring her new treasures... bubbles, plastic rings and necklace.

The diaperless bum. Precious.
I told her to show me her bum. She is SO proud of her undies.

I had no idea she was taking these, but here they are for your viewing pleasure. 21 weeks is feeling pretty large this time but I am in LOVE with my baby bump. :)

Lucy's Birthday Weekend

We spent Thursday, Lucy's actual birthday, at the Dallas zoo.

That night we took Mimi to Hard 8, our favorite place to get real Texas bbq.

Later we celebrated with cake and presents. Lucy loved her baby and stroller.

On Friday we went to Papacitos, one of our fav Texmex spots. Can you see why we love Dallas so much?

On Saturday we had a party for Lucy and all of her friends at the park and although it was warm it was incredibly windy so we didn't get any good pictures. Mimi made the amazing cupcakes!
We were so blessed to have Mimi in town to help us celebrate Lucy's birthday. We had so much fun getting pedies together and staying up late to talk. Come back soon Mimi!

Sofie imitating Lucy

Our sweet little Lulu has a funny walk! She doesn't bend her legs very much and she's bow legged. When she was learning to walk we would coax her into taking steps towards us with our arms stretched out. Sofie always likes to join in and she would approach us the same way doing Lucy's funny walk. We reinacted it for documentation sake.

Sofie has been saying some pretty funny things lately. Last week Lucy was sick and as I was trying to comfort her, Sofie brought me Lucy's blanket without me asking. I thanked her she said, "It's no problem mom." She often says, "Don't freak out Lucy." And she wants to name her baby brother Joseph Smith.

Jarem's Tri

We headed down to Athens for Jarem's Sprint Triathelon on Friday night. He raced the next morning and did very well! His total time was 1 hour 29 minutes! I didn't get any pictures of him during transition because he was so fast, but here are a couple of him about to cross the finish line. When Sofie saw him she ran out onto the course and they finished together.

Lulu loves to clap and she cheered for several of the particpants as they ran by. Sofie also enjoyed cheering for the atheletes. There was one older man who passed by and she called out, "Yaaay GopGop!"

My Sick Babies

The weather is warming up here in Dallas so hopefully we won't have much more of this.
